A Parametric Facade Design

CONTEXT
Also known as the Innovation center, this project was a three building (394,000SF) addition to a research and manufacturing campus.
In addition to leading all 3D development for this project, I designed all variations and details of the fluted facade expression.
Buildings B1 and B2, located south of the Bio-campus.
Building A, located north of the Bio-Campus.
The fluted facade systems on the B buildings, south of the bio-campus, were the most challenging design aspect.
PROCESS
Requirements for the facade design were seamless repetition and pattern variation.
The task was to develop a set of modular panels that would appear randomized when assembled.
ITERATION
I developed several iterations of a modular pattern, varying fluting ratios, depth and order.
And secured approval for a pattern module whose aggregate appeared random enough.
OUTCOME
